Ricky Smith planning a comeback with a “2010 Life Tour” and a new CD…..
February 9, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Since I only stumbled onto the Tejano Scene in late 1994, I never had a chance to see Ricky Smith and La Movida. I remember back in the mid 90s the song “Cada Noche” was a big hit on KICK FM in Dallas, and asking a friend what CD that song was on because I really liked the song and wanted to hear more about what that band sounded like and being told that it wasnt a new song, and since I wasnt online back then, I had no way to research it.
Well, Ricky Smith is back in Corpus and planning a tour. Click on the image below to visit his website , where you can listen to some clips and read his bio (its quite impressive) .

UNITES 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE TEJANO MUSIC AWARDS WITH7TH ANNUAL TEJANO MUSIC NATIONAL CONVENTION!
LATINPOINTE TO PRODUCE ALL-STAR CELEBRATION JULY 9-11 IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS!
SAN ANTONIO, TX – In what is being billed as the most important weekend in the Tejano Music industry, TEJANO MUSIC 2010 will bring together the Tejano Music Awards and the Tejano Music National Convention in an unprecedented display of unity from two of the most influential events in the music genre. Olathe, Kansas-based LatinPointe will produce TEJANO MUSIC 2010 weekend.
“We are pleased to have the Tejano Music Awards join with the Tejano Music National Convention in celebrating our historic 30-year anniversary,” says Frank Salazar, TTMA Board Vice President, “Having the top producers from important events such as the Latino Inaugural Gala, ALMA Awards and Premios Deportes reinforces our belief that this year’s Tejano Music Awards will be spectacular.”
The Tejano Music Awards will be celebrating 30 years of bestowing the industry’s most prestigious annual honors to the best in Tejano music. The Awards were created in 1980 by the Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) as a way to recognize artistic efforts and achievements in Tejano music. In its 7th year, the Tejano Music National Convention serves as the meeting ground for Tejano music enthusiasts, fans and other music industry representatives, gathered in support of advancing the growth of the Tejano (Tex-Mex) music genre as an original American art form. The three-day event, which will be held in San Antonio for the first time, was created by LatinPointe (LP) in 2004. Past host cities have included Las Vegas and Dallas.

The very first video recorded by a Tejano artist: Patsy Torres “Lover to Lover”
January 18, 2010 · 3 Comments
I was just surfing around on You Tube under Tejano Music and found this video. The description states Vintage Patsy Torres music video Lover to Lover. First music video ever recorded by a Tejano artist and the first to be played on MTV”. It doesn’t give the year, going by the big hair and the outfits, I’d guess somewhere between the late 80s and around 1990.
Seeing this video made me want to learn more about Patsy. The best bio I could find on her is the one on the CD Universe site, quite an impressive bio, makes me wonder why we don’t hear more about her. Click HERE (and then click on “full description” to read it).

So did AB and Cruz really kiss and make up?
January 5, 2010 · 4 Comments
Apparently this is old news, the article on the Univision site is dated October 2009, and according to the article they have been talking since May, so who knows if it’s still on or not, what can I say, with AB you never know. I can’t believe that I’m just now stumbling onto this information and that I haven’t heard anyone talking about it. They seem to be keeping a low profile, so we shall see what develops in 2010 between these two.
