It looks like the event got rained out last week, but it’s on for this week. When shows have to be rescheduled it is not always possible to get the same lineup, BUT the headliners are still the same, Grupo Vida apparently wasn’t available, BUT Tropa F has been added!

The entertainment for this event is Tejano/Conjunto, unfortunately the only link for this event is the one on the Fiesta website and it does not include the lineup.  The link does include a number to call, 922-0543.  I highly recommend checking into this event, I know they have brought some big names in the past, and this is such a beautiful setting for an event and you can’t beat the price (parking is free too).  If I find the lineup posted anywhere , I will update this post with the information.

Tejano bands at the Poteet Strawberry Festival (and the other event) this weekend April 9 -11, 2010

The REAL Strawberry Festival

Click on the image to go to the OFFICIAL site for the Poteet Strawberry Festival

Well it’s that time of year again…. time for the two Poteet dueling festivals…    Well actually ONE festival, the Poteet Strawberry Festival, a charity event ,which has been around for over 50 years and another event that calls itself the Poteet Music Festival, which is actually an event OUTSIDE the Festival grounds which capitalizes on the folks being in town for the actual festival.   As a Tejano Music fan, I have no problem with competing events, both have great lineups .  If you love Tejano Music, Poteet , TX is the place to be this weekend, if you are like me you will go to see the bands you want to see.   The problem I have is with the misleading advertising  which is so unnecessary.

So if you are headed to Poteet this weekend , here are some things to keep in mind.

Your admission fee (just $10.00 , free for under 12 and Military & Vets with proper ID) gets you in to the actual Strawberry Festival, includes the entertainment, plus you can purchase coupons to ride the rides and visit all the booths, and you will be contributing to a charitable cause.

Admission to the other event is just for the event itself.  For example the Saturday night performance at the Saloon is $25.00 (under 12 free) , so if you want to get to Poteet early enough  to enjoy the festival, add another 10.00 admission fee on to that.

Well, since Fan Fair I’ve been looking for videos to share on here,  ad these were the only ones I found. . I know there are more out there. (Hint-use tags, people are more likely to find your videos if you use good tags, like “Tejano Music” is what I search under as I don’t have time to search for each individual artist by name).

Fiestas Patrias Alamodome event in San Antonio scheduled for Sept 6, 2009

fiestas patrias alamodome

This is the information from KXTN’s website.  If you recall, last year the event was free but you had to visit one of the sponsers to get your free ticket.  It looks like they are going to make it easier for you this year, I don’t see anything on the flyer stating that you have to pick up a free ticket , it just says free.  You might want to tune in to KXTN to make sure that I am making the correct assumption.  You know what they say about people who assume.  ;-)
